Captain’s Final Entry – Trent Gardner Memorial Fund

My name is Trent Gardner II and my father and Magellan founder Trent Gardner passed away suddenly June 11, 2016 in Vacaville, CA. Due to his sudden passing we need immediate financial assistance to ensure a proper, dignified burial for my father. My father affected people all over the world with his music and my family and I are grateful and humbled by any size donation that you are able to give.

I have had the privilege to have a front row seat to his musical genius my entire life and I have many memories that I will hold onto for the rest. His studio shared a wall with my bedroom and late at night when he used headphones, I always knew when he was working by the vibrations of his leg bouncing on the floor keeping time. Or like when he would mull over lyrics or a musical idea early in the morning as we watched the original series of Star Trek and would then immediately run upstairs to get it recorded before he lost it.

He also taught me how to be a committed father and husband and I am so blessed that I had him as my father and bear his same name. His tenacity in and outside the studio is known to all those who were around him and that music and being a creator was his sole driving purpose in this world.

As Magellan was his legacy I will continue to maintain this website and catalog and I hope that he, like his music, is now able to transcend all things temporal and that he is now able to make the music he always wanted.

Goodnight dad, I love you.

-Trent II

I am sorry for your loss.

I have been following your father’s musical journey since the mid 90s when I was discovering the then new wave of “progressive” music he was a heroic pioneer of. He was and remains a distinctive voice. R.I.P. Trent Gardner.

Hi, very very sorry to hear it. My sincere condolences for your the loss. Trent was a genius. Well, back in 1996 when I was using the internet for the first time of course I have looked for Magellan. I did find an email address that was supposed to be from the band and I sent a message to that address. Well, and Trent replied me.
Over the years I have exchanged emails with him, but all the time I was mesmerized by the fact I was talking to one of my heroes. Musically speaking he was one of a kind too. Again I really wish the best for your family.
    I am from Brazil.

Trent was one of my biggest inspirations. Ironically, I decided to make a tribute to him a few months ago, playing one of Trent’s most know songs, “Magna Carta” ( https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Mi5orqd5fU0 ), as a form of homage… And now, this? Can’t be true…

    Rest in Peace, great master.

    Hello Trent,

I am absolutely devastated to have discovered this news this morning. I am so very sorry for your loss.

I have been a hardcore fan of Magellan, Explorer’s Club, Leonardo The Absolute Man etc since 1998. I also had the privilege of working with your father in a small capacity by maintaining Magellan’s web site (previously http://www.magellanband.com) for a number of years.

In my opinion, your father was one of the most talented musicians that ever walked this earth. His kindness and generosity matched that of his musical talent.

I know that he had a huge archive of unreleased material and I hope that, one day, you can make it available for all his fans to purchase.

My thoughts and prayers are with your family,

    Chris Millar from Alberta, Canada

Боже! Какой ужас. Два брата и оба скончались. Я из Украины, с удовольствием помог бы. Но мы страна нищих. У меня пенсия всего 44 доллара в месяц. Примите мои соболезнования
